Deliberate VHS Quality: An Analog Horror Story
MPS Prototype Capstone

The next steps for my capstone is to produce on an older-style site, such as Neocities, for the ultimate ARG/analog horror web experience.
Figma Prototype URL
My capstone showcases a rising horror subgenre, analog horror - I've collected, cleaned, and analyzed analog horror history and rise, story trope frequency, and recent search trends. The visuals (story intro, timeline, area chart with search trends, and a radar chart on top 10 traits of an analog horror and how frequent they are presented) provide insights into the surreal side of the internet and technology depicted in this web -based genre. Here are some examples of my work.
Audience: A younger audience who may have been born well after the "golden-age" of the internet (early 2000s) but has a strong interest in creating an analog horror and for busy horror enthusiasts that may not have time to watch a longer movie/show.
Data: A collection of the analog horror tropes from tvtropes.com, /r/analoghorror, IMDB, and Wikipedia entries.
Tools: Excel, R, Tableau, Figma
Story: What is analog horror, where did it come from, and who makes it?
Design: I wanted to emulate an old-school VHS cover and "old" internet. Color, typography, spacing, assets were carefully considered to seem "old-school" and a bit off.
Next Iteration: To fix a couple of typos within the Figma application and integrate the piece into an older-style site, such as Neocities, for the ultimate ARG/analog horror web experience. Emulating the interactive elements in Figma, would like to re-create and have an 'old internet world' feeling that analog horror likes to use. I'd like to create a dashboard or dropdown list of a selection based on time, effort, and feelings this particular horror may provoke.
